Stores remain closed

stores.jpgDaily Tortilla Grill and Three Guys from Italy remain closed as per the Jersey City Health Department. An inspector is due at the site this afternoon to discuss the situation with the owners of the businesses affected. Officer Mike Maffei is monitoring the situation to make sure that the stores do not re-open.

The shut-off of the water main that supplies water to several units in the Journal Square Hotel property will be affecting 2 fast-food establishments: Three Guys from Italy and Tortilla Express shut their doors at 5:45pm this evening in compliance with public health laws that require all food handlers to have proper water facilities. They will remain closed until the owners of the property repair the main.

United Water is currently shutting off the broken water main associated with 14 Journal Square. United Water Foreman, Ed Collis is present.

Water Main under Plaza/Kiosk

At this point, based on feedback from Jim Lauber, it appears that the water main in question is not associated with the Fountain. United Water is now trying to determine if it is a service main to 1-8 Journal Square. The fountain will remain off so that United Water can utilize a special sound device to pin-point the specific location of the breakage.

Underground Water Main next to Fountain
